FINISHES

Pick Your Finish

Finish matters more than colour when it comes to how a wrap ages and how much work it is to keep clean. Every film below is cast vinyl. The difference is the surface, how it catches light, and what it demands from you afterwards.

GLOSS

Reads closest to factory paint. Easiest to clean, hides light marks best, and available in the widest colour range.

FINISH

CLASSIC

SATIN AND MATTE

Flat, low sheen surface that changes the whole shape of the car. Shows fingerprints and needs careful washing.

WHY FINISH BEATS COLOUR

The Same Colour Looks Like Two Cars

People arrive with a colour in mind and leave having changed their finish instead. The same grey in gloss, satin and matte gives you 3 completely different cars. Gloss deepens the body lines and reflects its surroundings. Satin flattens the panel and makes the shape read as one solid mass.

Finish also decides how much work the car is. Gloss washes like paint and hides light marks. Matte and satin cannot be polished, so a scuff stays a scuff and fingerprints show around the handles. Neither is wrong. Just know which one you are choosing before the film is ordered.

AFTERCARE

Caring for Each Finish

Every wrap needs hand washing and none of them survive automatic brushes, but matte and satin need noticeably more care than gloss because nothing can be polished out. Give any new wrap 7 days before the first wash, then treat it according to the finish you chose.

01

GLOSS

Hand wash and dry with microfibre. Can be ceramic coated for extra slickness.

02

SATIN AND MATTE

Matte specific soap only. Never polish, never wax. It creates shiny patches.

03

SPECIALITY

Chrome and flip films mark easily. Wash by hand and clean spills immediately.

HOW MANY COLOURS CAN I CHOOSE FROM?

Hundreds across the major cast film ranges, before you factor in finish. Bring us a reference photo or a swatch and we will tell you what is available for your panels, what the film costs and whether the effect you have seen is achievable in vinyl.

We can get very close on most colours, though a photo taken in bright sun looks different from the same film in an underground garage. Where it matters, we get a sample of the film in before ordering the full roll so you are looking at the real thing in real light.

Gloss, by a reasonable margin. It resists marking better and can be cleaned more aggressively without damage. Matte and satin are more fragile because the surface cannot be corrected, and speciality films like chrome are the most delicate of all.

Yes, and it is a common request. Satin body with a gloss black roof, or a chrome delete on a gloss wrap. Mixing finishes is usually more effective than mixing colours, because the contrast reads as intentional rather than busy.

They show fingerprints and oils more, especially around door handles and the tailgate. Actual road dirt is no worse. Ceramic coating over a matte or satin wrap helps considerably, since it makes the surface slicker without adding gloss.

A cast vinyl wrap that is hand washed and parked out of constant sun holds its colour for around 5 to 7 years. Horizontal panels take the most UV and always fade first. Bright reds and yellows fade faster than dark colours, which is true of paint as well.
