WHY MAINTENANCE WINS

Nothing Gets Cheaper By Waiting

Almost every expensive engine repair started as something small that was ignored. Old oil that lost its film strength. A coolant leak that took out a head gasket. Plugs left in for twice their interval until the coils gave up. The repair bill is usually 10 times what the maintenance would have cost.

We tell you what is actually due and what has life left in it, and we show you why. If the plugs are fine and the fluids are clean, we say so and you pay for the oil change. Plenty of our regulars came to us after being handed a list of everything the car supposedly needed at once.

BETWEEN SERVICES

Keeping It Running

Most of what keeps an engine alive between services takes 5 minutes a month. Short city trips in the GTA are harder on an engine than highway kilometres, because the oil never fully reaches temperature and moisture stays in the system. Follow the 3 rules below and the intervals below stretch a lot further.

01

OIL

Check the level monthly. Most engines use some oil between changes and that is normal.

02

LIGHTS

A check engine light means get it read. Ignoring it turns a sensor into a repair.

03

INTERVALS

Follow the manufacturer schedule, not the sticker. Short city trips need more, not less.

QUESTIONS WE GET EVERY WEEK.

Didn’t find yours? Call the shop. A tech answers, not a call centre.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I CHANGE MY OIL?

Follow the interval in your owner’s manual, which on most modern engines running synthetic is between 8,000 and 12,000 kilometres. Short city trips, heavy traffic and cold starts all shorten it, so a car that only does school runs and Highway 400 crawls needs it sooner than the number suggests.

Oil and filter, air and cabin filters, spark plugs, all fluids checked and topped, and a full diagnostic scan with a written report. On modern engines a tune up is mostly maintenance and diagnostics rather than the carburettor adjustments the name comes from.

It could be a loose gas cap or it could be a failing catalytic converter, and there is no way to know without reading the code. A steady light means get it looked at soon. A flashing light means stop driving and call us, because that usually indicates a misfire that can destroy the converter.

Yes. We handle engine repair alongside routine servicing, and because the diagnostic work happens here you are not paying one shop to find the fault and another to fix it. Repairs are quoted in writing from the actual fault before any work starts.

Yes. You are not required to service a vehicle at the dealership to keep your factory warranty valid, as long as the work follows the manufacturer’s schedule and specification and you keep the records. We service to spec and give you the documentation.

Yes, and it is worth the money before buying any used car. We put it on the hoist, scan it for stored faults, check for signs of previous collision work and tell you honestly what you are looking at. Our body shop side means we spot repaired damage most general mechanics miss.
